Glad you got good news for London. I got my letter through last week so will be aiming to knock off the few seconds.

Good to see that your training is going well eggy - 20 pints and then sweating it off at a gig jumping around!

Did the Ashby 20 today - 3 hrs 5 which was 2 mins quicker than 2 years ago, although I had to walk up a few hills at the end.

Cant wait to get London over with to get back to normal life and gigging/drinking. Feeling quite chirpy now after rehydrating with a bottle of red

Injured, still injured and increasingly overweight. Did my shin in about three weeks ago and only just started walking normal, might be jogging by the end of the week - if I do London, it's going to be a gentle job.

Entered Abingdon in October, so plan is to take it easily back and try and re-gain some fitness and do some 10k's May / June - perhaps not though!

this morning I was listening to the Radio Nowhere podcast and the band were interviewed. they were talking about experiences fans had listening to the big roar. The mentioned a certain persons blog about listening in a dark room with a cigar and a glass of port; and also a certain fan who was running and losing weight . I think thats as good as a namecheck that we will get, proud! :D

3 weeks to go till Brighton Marathon and I'm feeling ok. Did Brighton half 4 weeks back in 1:43 and have a couple of 20 mile training runs in the bank with 1 more to come this weekend. 2 more gigs before the day so here's to an injury free 3 weeks.. :)

Got round London in 4 hr 23, had to run/walk from 20.5 miles basically because I ran out of steam again. 8 mins faster than 2 years ago so reasonably happy with it although still know I should be capable of getting closer to 4 hours, so will hopefully get another go sometime in the next few years either through the ballot or the mighty Whetstone Harriers. Great day and the memory will stick with me for a long time, but glad to be back gigging and drinking seriously again.

Well done Paul.

I didn't do it due to my shin. Injury free for a change now but marathon would have been silly so deferred for next year.

Did my longest run for months on Tuesday, eight miles. Few weeks of slowly rebuilding and aim to get some shape back in order to train for Abingdon Marathon at end of October.

Hope the rehabilitation goes well Eggy. I've entered the ballot again for London next year, so hopefully I'll be there as well either through that or the club. Doubt if you'll see me though - by my calculations improving 8 mins each year I should catch up with you in about 2023.

Got the big one week on Sunday - Hinckley half marathon, so hoping for big things.

Pontiacb, many congratulations on your time in London. I ran the Brighton the week before in 4.29. My training had been going very well leading up to it including 4 x 20 milers but as with last year I was running on empty for the last 6 miles. Another very hot day didn't help.

Eggy, good luck in your recovery programme. Like they say, plenty of more races in the future and I'm sure you'll come back stronger.

I read reports about Brighton and it was apparently super hot, so 4:29 in those conditions is top stuff in my book - it was warm but not scorching at London which helped (everyone always moans at london that its too hot, whereas in fact it would be worse with all the hanging around if it was wet and miserable). Like you I did a few 20 milers (three) which went well, but its that last 10K that I cant crack. Problem is that you dont really want to go much over 20 in training as it knackers you for so long, so I guess its just a mattter or running more marathons.

Would like to do Brighton if London doesnt come off as I love the place, but my wife wants to come and the logistics of getting back from Brighton so she can get back to teach her kids on the Monday mean that it probably isnt viable, so Stratford will probably be my back up if I dont get into London next year.
