but have come across 4 songs with the same tune & it's got me wondering if this is a record
leonard cohen weighs in with 2 of these 4: hey, that's no way to say goodbye & suzanne
but this tune is furhter "borrowed" by both american music club on cakewalk & by rem on hope

The ones where they can play like 50 songs with the same cords in different ways.

The same happens in normal music, provided it's far enough from the original or copyright free they'll use it because it's an easy option.....

Personally if I we're an artist I'd prefer to make it on my own melodies than a few songs with someone else's.....

Well the solo seems to be note for note the same, and Noel is a magpie by his own admission so i think it was definitely intentional.
